Diabetic Nutrition

Nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits are an important part of managing your diabetes, and at Chancy Drugs, we can help. For example, carbohydrates are starches and sugars found in foods such as bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, fruits, fruit juices, milk, and sweets. Carbohydrates increase your blood sugar (glucose) more than any other nutrients in food. They are also your body’s main source of energy.

One of the best ways to stay motivate is to set realistic goals and then reward yourself when you meet them. Also focus on doing activities that you enjoy such as exercising with a partner, participating in a league, or joining a dance class.

Remember to wear comfortable shoes, walk instead of drive whenever possible and to take the stairs instead of elevators.

Ask one of our diabetes educators at Chancy Drugs to help you develop an Activity Plan and to help you determine which activities are best for you.
